01 — WHO I AM

I design products that feel human.

I'm Jadyn Calkins, a Product Designer based in New York City. I didn't take the traditional path into design - I'm currently working in operations at a tech startup, sitting close enough to the product to see exactly where the experience breaks down for real users. That's when it clicked. I'd always been drawing, making things, obsessing over how stuff looked and felt. Turns out I'd been thinking like a product designer the whole time - I just needed the right words for it.

Carolyn Davidson designed the Nike Swoosh for $35. One mark. Recognized everywhere. That's the kind of work that stays with me - simple, intentional, built to last.

When I'm not in Figma you'll find me DJing, playing soccer, drawing, or somewhere outside touching grass. Music especially shapes how I think about design - both are about feel first, theory second.

UX Research & Strategy

I talk to people. A lot. Not just users - engineers, stakeholders, PMs. Understanding what everyone actually needs before touching a single frame is where good design starts.

UI Design & Prototyping

High-fidelity mockups and interactive prototypes that don't just look good in a presentation - they hold up when real people use them.

Product Thinking

End-to-end product design. I came up through operations so I understand how products actually run. I design with the business, the user, and the edge cases all in the room at once.

Design is in the clothes you wear, the buildings you walk through, the shoes on your feet, the car you drive, the food on your plate. It's in nature. It's in us.

Design is what brings life to everything around us, without it the world would be bare and blank. That's why I take it seriously. And that's why I love it.
